Mobile Gaming Figures Rise Sharply in 2010

Following several years of slow progress, mobile gaming is beginning to live up to its potential.

Recently unveiled reports show encouraging growth for the mobile gaming industry in the first half of 2010.

The mounting dominance of smartphones has benefited the industry immensely, with players increasingly using their iPhone, Blackberry or Android to enjoy online casino games.

Online gaming operators have professed their delight at the figures, with one operator reporting a percentage increase in mobile gaming of 797% for sports book wagers and an overall growth of 650%. This operator also showed a 21% increase in overall online gambling figures in the opening part of the 2010 financial year.

Other renowned brands have also shown a large increase in mobile gaming. One company reported an increase of over 150% in its mobile membership and an overall revenue increase of 200%, equivalent to £6.5 million.
